The State of Mexico is solidifying its position as the country's main automotive hub, thanks to its robust infrastructure and world-class industrial parks that enable a production capacity of nearly 500,000 vehicles per year.

Despite uncertainty stemming from international tariff policies, Mexico’s automotive industry is experiencing favorable momentum. According to INEGI, during the first half of 2025, national production exceeded 2 million units, keeping the goal of reaching 4 million vehicles produced this year within reach.

While concerns remain about potential adjustments in global trade conditions, the strength of Mexico’s industrial infrastructure continues to be a key factor in retaining and expanding major automakers, especially in strategic regions like the State of Mexico.

Why is the State of Mexico the leader in the automotive industry?

Currently, the State of Mexico is home to 12,457 companies linked to the automotive industry, the highest number among all states in the country. It also generates nearly 10% of the national added value in this key economic sector.

In 2024, 58% of the state's exports were related to transportation equipment, while the automotive industry accounted for 16.5% of the state's Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

These figures highlight the dynamism, competitiveness, and relevance of the State of Mexico’s industrial ecosystem both nationally and internationally. A clear testament to this is the presence of major automakers that have chosen to establish operations in the region.
